Bringing rich experience in defense work with her, Shirlena joined the Office of the Indiana Federal Community Defenders in 2012. Prior to joining the IFCD Shirlena spent years with the Marion County Public Defender’s Office in the role of paralegal. At the IFCD Shirlena is a trusted resource for clients and families, bringing the ability to help those familiar with the state system acclimate to the often bewildering world of the federal system. With her experience and dedication to defense, Shirlena has responsibility for a wide variety of tasks, maintaining files, assisting with drafting and filing pleadings, and scheduling.

Shirlena has also developed into the office’s in house investigator. Shirlena assists the trial attorneys by researching issues, reviewing discovery, interviewing witnesses and helping the trial attorneys develop the cases and assisting through trial.

At home, you’ll find Shirlena spending time with her kids. And in any spare time, Shirlena is an avid and frequent international traveler and music fan, often attending concerts and planning new trips.
