A law graduate, Jenna Murphy joined the post-conviction capital unit of the Indiana Public Defenders Office of Indiana right out of law school and fell in love with mitigation work. And there she stayed for almost twenty years, until she joined the Office of the Indiana Federal Community Defenders in 2018 where she continues her work for clients on death row. As an expert mitigation specialist, and working with the attorneys in the Unit, Jenna and her team investigate the lives of the Unit’s clients with the goal of creating deep, multi-generational client histories that help the Courts to understand unique frailties of individual clients and how they shape the client’s involvement in the underlying case. Jenna’s dedication and tenacious determination to run down every fact and every possible witness make her a fierce advocate for our clients.
