Jacob Leon

Assistant Federal Defender

Growing up in the deep south, Jacob saw the problems that mass incarceration inflicts on communities. He attended Georgetown University Law Center with the desire to help fix such problems. After graduating from law school, Jacob clerked for Chief Judge Nannette J. Brown of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana. He then clerked for Chief Judge Mary H. Murguia of the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. Following a stay as a litigation associate for Williams & Connolly in Washington, DC, Jacob found his way home to the Indiana Federal Community Defender’s office in 2022. For our office, Jacob briefs and argues cases in the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit.

Jacob works remotely from his house near Washington, DC. He spends his free time reading, traveling with his wife, or cheering on the New Orleans Saints or New Orleans Pelicans.
