Dominic Martin

Assistant Federal Public Defender

Dominic has a true heart for public defense. Since graduating from law school Dominic has never desired to do anything but defend those clients who could not otherwise afford an attorney. Following law school, Dominic landed at the Marion County Public Defender’s Agency and with the exception of one small foray into private practice, he stayed. When joining the Indiana Federal Community Defenders Office in 2016 Dominic had nearly two decades of experience as a public defender. Handling innumerous high profile  murder cases in the Major Case Unit during his years at Marion County Dominic brings a steadfast and measured approach to his federal criminal cases at IFCD.

Dominic’s unflappable persona may result from his many years of experience in the military. Dominic is a US Army veteran and spent his last years in the 76th Infantry Brigade JAG unit in the Indiana Army National Guard at Tyndall Armory in Indianapolis.

Dominic maintains this Zen today through his love of studying and teaching Japanese jujutsu and meditation at Sensokan Dojo in Indianapolis. Dominic has studied jujutsu and meditation for nearly 20 years and is a Menkyo Chuden level black belt and has been an instructor since 2008. Weekends may find Dominic cooking something new and exotic for his wife, travelling, or spending time in nature and practicing survival skills.
