Shirlena Northern, Investigative Paralegal
shirlena.northern@fd.org
Joining the Office of the Indiana Federal Community Defenders in 2012, Shirlena brings a rich experience in defense work along with her. Prior to joining our office, Shirlena worked for seven years with the Marion County Public Defender’s Office in the role of paralegal. Here in our office, Shirlena has fast become a trusted resource for clients and families, bringing an ability to help those familiar with the state system acclimate to the often bewildering world of the federal system.
A criminal case is never so simple as what is presented by the government, and in our office Shirlena serves as an invaluable resource for gathering the information critical to defense of our clients. As soon as a case comes in the door, Shirlena is consulting with the trial attorney to determine what investigative needs each case may have, making recommendations about how best to gather the needed information, and working tirelessly to track down that information.
