Attorney General Outlines New Drug Sentencing Reforms

Attorney General Eric Holder is looking to make major changes to the sentencing of low-level and nonviolent drug offenders. Holder will send a new policy to the United States ttorney's Offices which will allow low-level and nonviolent drug offenders to avoid "draconian mandatory minimum sentences." With his plan, Holder intends to lower the overall federal prison population. Holder stated "too many Americans go to too many prisons for far too long and for no good law enforcement reason."
